How We Replace Your Vehicle Window
Access the damaged panel – Remove the necessary trims or components to reach the glass and, for door windows, the window mechanism.
Remove glass and clean up – Take out the damaged panel and vacuum loose fragments from the affected door, cabin and work area as applicable.
Prepare and fit – Inspect the mounting area, position the correct glass and secure it using the panel’s channels, mounts or bonding system.
Refit the trims – Reassemble the door or surrounding trim and other components removed to access the glass.
Test and finish – Check fit, sealing and security, test opening-window operation where applicable, and clean the completed work area.

How much does vehicle window replacement cost?

Can a damaged side or rear window be repaired instead?
Shattered glass needs replacing. Many side, rear and quarter windows use toughened glass rather than the laminated glass commonly used for windscreens, so windscreen chip repair is usually unsuitable. We’ll assess the panel and damage before recommending the appropriate service.
How soon can you replace my window, and how long will it take?
Same-day or next-day appointments are often available, depending on glass availability, workload and job complexity. Fitting time varies by panel and vehicle; special-order glass may take longer to source. We’ll explain the expected timing and any wait before using the vehicle.
Will you remove the broken glass and check the window works?
Yes. We remove the damaged panel and vacuum loose glass from the affected door, cabin and work area as applicable. After fitting, we check the panel’s fit and sealing. For opening windows, we also test operation and glass travel, including the relevant switches and mechanism.
Can I use insurance for a broken vehicle window?
Metro Auto Glass is an insurance-approved repairer. Contact your insurer to check your cover, excess and repairer choice, then lodge the claim directly with them. Once approved, we can complete the replacement where your insurer and policy permit.
What warranty comes with the replacement?
Our lifetime workmanship guarantee covers installation-related issues, including leaks or rattles caused by our work, which we’ll fix free of charge. It excludes general wear and tear of materials, customer-caused damage and accident damage.
